Opening Doors to Cambridge: WOHAA Students Visit St Catharine’s College
On Monday, 17th February 2025, 24 WOHAA students had the incredible opportunity to visit St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, for an exclusive university tour. With an average rating of 4.5/5, the visit provided invaluable insights into university life, the admissions process, and the diverse opportunities Cambridge has to offer.
Exploring Cambridge and Breaking Stereotypes
The day began with a warm welcome from Emily from St. Catharine’s College, alongside passionate Student Ambassadors who introduced students to the University of Cambridge and its unique collegiate system.
One of the biggest highlights for students was the guided tours of both St Catharine’s and Downing College, giving them a real feel for the different environments within Cambridge.
"My favourite part of the trip was definitely the tours; getting to see the vibe of the different colleges. I’ve realised that the stereotypes aren’t completely true and that you can find/look for colleges that suit you."
Q&A Session: Insights from Current Students
A Q&A session with Student Ambassadors and the Schools Liaison Officer proved to be an invaluable experience, allowing students to ask candid questions about university life, academic expectations, and adapting to new challenges.
"The most valuable thing I took away from the trip to St Catharine’s was the Q&A session with the Liaison office and students in various years of their degrees. I learnt about how I could adapt to uni life."
Admissions Talk & Course Guidance
Later in the day, students attended an Admissions Talk, where they gained practical advice on applications, personal statements, and course options. For some, this provided clarity on their own university aspirations.
"Thank you for this experience, WOHAA! One of the students I met was able to answer a lot of my questions about the Veterinary course, which was extremely helpful. I also learned about the application process and different options available."
A Lasting Impact
This trip was more than just a tour—it was an eye-opening experience that helped students see themselves at Cambridge and understand the many possibilities ahead of them.
