Exploring a Career in Pharmacy with Ekta Ragha: Wings of Hope Workshop
We were excited to welcome Ekta Ragha for a workshop on pursuing a career in pharmacy, for WOHAA participants. Ekta gave a fascinating insight into her daily life as a pharmacist; what the job involves, meeting people, and helping them with their health concerns. She also highlighted the many places pharmacists can work, from community pharmacies and hospitals to government and policy roles.
Students learned how the profession is changing, with AI helping to dispense medicines, while pharmacists are increasingly prescribing medicines and acting as a first point of contact for patients. Ekta also shared practical advice on how to get into pharmacy, covering degrees, A-levels, interviews, and what to expect along the way.
She spoke warmly about what she loves most, interacting with people in the community and seeing her work make a real difference and also the challenges, including long hours and big responsibilities. One thing was clear: every day is different, keeping the job exciting and dynamic.
The session wrapped up with a lively Q&A, where students asked brilliant questions about choosing pharmacy over other careers, gaining work experience, and general advice for aspiring pharmacists.
It was a very inspiring session that gave students a real sense of what a career in pharmacy can look like and the impact it can have on people’s lives. We thank Ekta Ragha for taking the time to share her experience and insights with our students!
