An Inspiring Visit to St Peter’s College, Oxford
On Monday, 27th January 2025, our Year 12 WOHAA students had the incredible opportunity to visit St Peter’s College, Oxford, as part of their journey to explore higher education pathways. This exclusive experience through WOHAA provided them with a unique insight into one of the world’s most prestigious universities.
During the visit, the students were privileged to meet Dr. Tim Mawson, Professor of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, who led them on a guided tour of St Peter’s College. Dr. Mawson not only showcased the college’s stunning architecture and facilities but also took the time to answer students’ questions about life at Oxford, the admissions process, and career opportunities beyond university.
The students also received an inspiring message from Dr. Branavan Rudran, a WOHAA alumnus and Overall 2008 WOHAA Winner, who is currently pursuing his PhD at St Peter’s College. Through a video shared with the group, Dr. Branavan reflected on his WOHAA journey and how the skills and experiences he gained during the program have shaped his life and academic career. His story served as a testament to the transformative impact of WOHAA and motivated our students to make the most of their own journeys.
In addition, the group engaged with current first-year students from the college. These students generously shared their personal experiences of applying to Oxford, including insights into the interview process, as well as how they are finding their studies so far at Oxford. Hearing directly from those already navigating university life was both inspiring and informative for our participants; with a few additional insights of university and life after university, from Dr. Mawson and our very own WOHAA Senior Programme Manager, Sarah!
We are incredibly grateful to St Peter’s College, Dr. Mawson, and Dr. Branavan Rudran for providing such a memorable and educational day. Experiences like these are invaluable in empowering our WOHAA students to dream big and strive for excellence in their futures.
